Fall 2019 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Gilroy, CA
College: University of California, Berkeley
Degree: B.S. in Business Administration; B.A. in Music

A Bay Area native, Isabella Chow graduated from UC Berkeley in May 2019 with high distinction in her business administration and music degrees. Having played the piano since the age of six, Isabella specialized in classical piano performance as part of her music degree, in addition to dabbling in university chorus, African drums, and Indonesian gamelan music. While she intends to pursue music as a side passion going forward, Isabella plans to begin her career in management consulting, with an eye on running for elected office in the long-term future.

Isabella's interest in government was first piqued when she competed in speech and debate with Stoa, a national homeschool league. In high school and college, Isabella interned for her county supervisor, a campaign for a San Francisco proposition, and her home district's Congresswoman consecutively. At Berkeley, she was also actively involved in political clubs and student government, eventually serving as one of twenty elected senators who debated school policies and oversaw the $1-2M student fund.

Isabella is excited to live on the East Coast and immerse herself with fellows in philosophical, political, and theological discussions. She hopes that this upcoming semester will equip her to effectively serve and lead in both private and public sectors.
