Gabriel Ozuna

2018 John Jay Fellow

Gabriel “Gabe” Ozuna

Hometown: Donna, TX

College: Yale University

Degree: B.A. History

Gabriel Ozuna is a former teacher from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas who spent this past fall as an education policy intern at the Heritage Foundation.

Gabe graduated with a degree in History from Yale University, where he spent most of his time debating political philosophy as a member of the Federalist Party in the Yale Political Union. Gabriel was also heavily involved in the pro-life advocacy group, Choose Life at Yale (CLAY), and served as President of the Yale Anscombe Society.

A recent Catholic convert from evangelical Christianity, he describes himself as a traditionalist conservative with communitarian sympathies in the lineage of Russell Kirk and Wendell Berry. However, his true passions lie with Astros baseball, severe weather, and talking about the 1910s.

While at John Jay, Gabe hopes to develop a more thorough understanding of the American Christian tradition, envisioning ways for Catholics and evangelical Protestants to work together to resist the errors of modernity and stir society toward cultural renewal.
