Spring 2020 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Elizabethtown, PA
College: Palm Beach Atlantic University
Degree: B.A. Politics

Nate Esbenshade graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in May 2019 where he participated in the Fredrick M. Supper Honors Program reading and discussing the Great Books of the Western canon. During his time at PBA, Nate was an active member of the Student Government Association where he served as the Student Body Vice President his senior year. Nate was one of PBA’s LeMieux Fellows in 2019 where he worked on a public policy research project in conjunction with a faculty member and former Florida senator George LeMieux. His research focused on the potential economic impacts of the USMCA trade agreement.

In the fall of 2019, Nate was a Public Policy Intern at the Commonwealth Foundation, a state-based free-market think tank in his home state of Pennsylvania. While there, he had the opportunity to research and write about important policy issues facing Pennsylvanians. This experience refined his passion for public policy and taught him the value think tanks have in helping people understand public policy.

Nate is excited to live in an intentional Christian community at the John Jay Institute and discuss the most important questions facing our generation. After completion of the fellowship, he plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in Politics and working in public policy and education.
