Roshan Rama

Spring 2019 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Danville, CA
College: Santa Clara University
Degree: B.S. Economics and U.S. History

Roshan Rama is from the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Santa Clara University with a degree in Economics and United States History. Roshan’s Jesuit education taught him the importance of community involvement and academic engagement. In his time in college, Roshan served as the trip leader on an immersion to the Navajo Nation, worked as a Hackworth Fellow at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, and completed an honors thesis on community development in the Mission District.

His experiences at Santa Clara University sparked his interest in the John Jay Institute. An opportunity that will allow him to continue his intellectual and spiritual growth through academic study and community living. In particular, Roshan looks forward to studying the great thinkers that shaped the nation during his time at Fairview Manor.  Roshan is thankful for the faculty at Santa Clara University that supported his candidacy as a John Jay Fellow. The University remains integral to his formation and will inform his approach to the fellowship.

Roshan hopes to lead a life of service to the nation that has accepted his family and him with open arms. A nation, land, and people that work every day to live up to the ideals set forth in the U.S. Constitution.
