Spring 2019 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
College: Baylor University
Degree: B.A. International Studies, Minors: Political Science, Chinese

Zane Zovak graduated from Baylor university in December of 2018. His undergraduate experience introduced him to international affairs, which he supplemented by joining Baylor’s Model United Nations team, winning both team and individual awards at the national conference in New York. He has also enjoyed being an officer for the honors international studies chapter and spent this past semester as a McLane Scholar, participating in the weekly conversations and a summit at SMU discussing the appropriate role of government in a free society.

To stay active Zane tries to supplement his academic work with exercise and is vice president of the Baylor Club Triathlon team. He also is a member of the Dream Team that trains with the Women’s basketball team to scout and prepare them for each upcoming game. He’s loved this experience as it’s allows him to play the game he loves at a competitive level, as well as serve the women’s basketball program.

Beyond Baylor, Zane hopes to continue his studies in foreign policy with an emphasis on China/US relations in grad school. He grew up overseas in Australia and China and has always had a passion for international affairs. Zane is excited to see what being a John Jay Fellow will teach him about the intersection of his faith and vocation and where God will lead him in the future.
