Erin Drummy

Spring 2022 John Jay Fellow

Hometown: Longmont, CO
College: Taylor University
Degree: B.A. in Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics

A native of Colorado, Erin Drummy ventured to the cornfields for her undergraduate studies. She received her B.A. in Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics with minors in Legal Studies and Strategic Communications from Taylor University. She graduated summa cum laude in May of 2020. During her time at Taylor, she was a member of the Taylor University Honor’s Guild and served as a research associate to Dr. Todd Ream, Professor of Higher Education. As part of her research, she had the honor of being one of the co-authors of Higher Education: Handbook of Theory and Research.

As an undergraduate, she also participated in extra-curriculars such as the Taylor University Equestrian Team, POMS Team, and student development. She also had the opportunity to participate in a study abroad program that took place in Washington, DC, where she interned with the Department of Justice and participated in public policy analysis courses. It was here that her interest in policy and advocacy was sparked. During her senior year she received the Excellence in Grant Writing Award from the Taylor Communications Department for assisting a church that received funding as part of a COVID-19 Indiana church initiative designed to help church communities transfer their outreach services to being fully virtual.

This past year Erin worked as a scheduling coordinator for Safe at Home Care, a home health-care agency headquartered in Colorado. Her role allowed her to pair clients in need with their most ideal care situation, particularly end of life care. This role has allowed her to gain more insight into the private healthcare system in the United States and elder law. During this time, she also received her Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Boston University where she studied business, real estate, and family law as well as litigation.

Erin is looking forward to sharing this time with her other fellows as they dive into the hard, important questions of leadership, faith, and service. Following her time at John Jay, Erin hopes to combine her passions of research, advocacy, and people-oriented service through pursuing graduate school or entering the legal field. Above all, she desires to continually develop herself into a compassionate, caring leader following the example of Christ himself set forth.

Outside of academics, Erin enjoys riding horses, being outdoors, travel, reading, and anything having to do with coffee.
