Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
College: University of Southern California
Degree: B.S. Public Policy; B.A. Journalism
Luke Holthouse graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2017 with degrees in Public Policy and Journalism. He focused much of his studying and reporting on education policy issues and wrote his capstone thesis on the challenges of pension insolvency in school districts across the country. While at USC, he was a columnist for the Daily Trojan, an active participant in InterVarsity service and ministry initiatives, and a coach in multiple youth lacrosse programs. During his time as an undergraduate, Luke interned with USC’s Center on Communication Leadership & Policy, Teach For America’s campus recruitment efforts, and the Federalist Society’s D.C. office.
After graduating, Luke joined the Teach For America corps in Indianapolis. He spent two years teaching middle school math and coaching basketball at an urban charter school, and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marian University while in the corps. He has spent the past year as a Program Director in New York for the sports-based youth development organization, Harlem Lacrosse & Leadership.
Luke is fascinated by classical approaches to philosophy, politics, ethics, and theology. He looks forward to studying how access to classical and religious education opportunities can be expanded around the country and is thrilled to have the chance to do so within a Christian fellowship. He hopes to continue working in education after completing the fellowship, and to one day teach a high school seminar on contemporary Catholic philosophy.
