Erin O’Neil, 2nd Lieutenant, United States Army

Hometown:  Oswega, Illinois

College:  University of Illinoi at Urbana-Champaign

Degree:  B.A. Linguistics

Erin O’Neil graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Linguistics and a minor in Arabic Studies.  She was also a participant of the Reserve Officer Training Corps and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in Military Intelligence in the U.S. Army.

While in the University of Illinois ROTC program, Erin was selected to serve as Cadet Battalion Commander where she was responsible for the planning for and training of 78 Cadets.  She has received many awards for her academic and military achievements to include the George C. Marshall Award as well as the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross, which is only awarded to the top Cadet out of approximately 3,000 in 3rd Brigade.  In the Spring 2014, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Verona, Italy.  Erin has been assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team in Vicenza, Italy, and hopes to become a Foreign Area Officer
