Laura Stromback
2016 Saratoga Fellow
Laura Stromback, 2nd Lieutenant, United States Marine Corps
Hometown: Chandler, Arizona
College: United States Naval Academy
Major: B.S. Systems Engineering
Laura graduated from the Naval Academy in May 2016 with a degree in Systems Engineering and received her commission into the United States Marine Corps.
Her parents served in leadership of the Gideons International influencing Laura of the integral relationship between true faith and action. She became critically aware of the importance of continuing to pursue challenges and strengthen character over the course of a lifetime. Involvement in the Navigators during her academic career at the Academy deepened her understanding of the value of discipleship and the importance of quality relationships in building strong character for effective leadership. Several opportunities to travel overseas guided Laura to understand that changing the world doesn't depend on extravagant campaigns or plans of international proportions, but on being in step with God's leadership to make a profound impact wherever she may be.
Laura is excited and humbled by the opportunity to lead Marines in the near future. She hopes to use the time spent as a Saratoga Fellow to strengthen her foundation of Christian principles, and to prepare to be an effective leader of conviction in an increasingly complicated theater. She aspires to devote herself to building God's Kingdom at her future duty stations and workplaces as a Marine, an engineer, a parent, or whatever role she finds God calling her to play.
