Elijah spent his childhood in Central Kentucky and his adolescence in Northern Virginia. His interests included reading, playing chess, running cross country, and competing successfully in various high school debate formats. As an adult, he has found great pleasure in officiating high school and adult amateur soccer and basketball for a number of years and greatly enjoys the novels of Pat Conroy. 

Elijah was an Ashbrook Scholar and member of the Honors Program at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio where he majored in International Political Studies with minors in Mathematics and Economics, graduating Magna Cum Laude last spring. While in college, he was named the Political Science Department’s Outstanding Sophomore of 2020, served as the Alexander Hamilton Society’s event coordinator, was Treasurer for the Honors Program Executive Board, participated in Ashland’s Model Arab League, and was nominated to represent Ashland at West Point’s 73rd Student Conference on U.S. Affairs; additionally, while in Ohio, he enlisted in that state’s National Guard.

Elijah looks forward to his time as a John Jay Fellow and plans to attend law school after its completion.
